The Leadership Team is focused on establishing a best-in-class Education Program to fulfill the organization's Mission Statement, " provide a program of educational enrichment and create opportunities for children and adults to develop talents in all aspects of theatre arts." The Education Program currently includes:

  • Firehouse Learning Labs - Utilize MainStage Youth productions to provide classes for youth and adults utilizing "In-Show Experience" education materials focusing on various aspects of the performing arts. We are currently implementing this program with Honk! Jr., which will be presented May 4-14.

  • Acting Out "Inspiring Improv Intensives" Summer Camp - 3 separate weeks in June utilizing exercises, lectures, and short scene work targeted to students entering 3rd - 8th grades. The program is designed to challenge and help learners grow their acting and creative skills. High school students have the opportunity to practice leadership skills while serving as mentors. Public performances for family and friends scheduled at the end of each week. For specific dates and other information about Summer Camp, see (LINK put link here)

  • Project AcTour – A traveling troupe consisting of 5 Actors that will visit local schools utilizing theatre arts to teach a TEKS oriented virtue. This program is currently under development for launch in Fall 2017.

Audience Experience – Local schools are provided group rates and invited to participate in an enhanced audience experience:

  1. Come Early - a pre-performance discussion with actors regarding pre-show preparation such as costumes, make-up, mic checks, prop placement, and a backstage tour.

  2. Stay Late - a post-performance discussion with actors exploring character development, plot progression, movement techniques, and a Q&A session.
